School Bus Rental Subsidy Application Guidelines (Applicable for Primary, Secondary and Special Schools only)
1.Number of Students
The amount of subsidy will be granted on the basis of the number of rented school bus. To apply for the subsidy, the minimum number of students has to be 30 per school bus (i.e. excluding teachers, parents, volunteers, etc.).
2.Amount of Subsidy Per School Bus
Based on the distance between Science Park and the school districts, there are two tiers of upper limit for subsidy:
table
School Districts | Maximum Amount of Subsidy for Single Trip (30 Students or above per school bus) | Maximum Amount of Subsidy for Round Trip (30 Students or above per school bus) |
---|---|---|
North District, Shatin, Kowloon Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong, Yau Tsim Mong, Cheung Sha Wan and Lai Chi Kok | HK$450 | HK$900 |
Yuen Long, Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai, Tsuen Wan, Kwai Tsing, Sai Kung, Tseung Kwan O and Hong Kong Island | HK$600 | HK$1,200 |
3.Approval Principle
The total reimbursement amount would be capped at the designated amount offered to school (based on location listed above) or the actual expense incurred, whichever is lower.
4.Examples
- A school in Tsuen Wan rents 3 round-trip school buses for 90 students to visit InnoCarnival 2025 at Hong Kong Science Park (30 students per school bus, excluding teachers, parents, volunteers etc.) could apply for a transportation subsidy up to HK$3,600 (HK$1,200 x 3 school buses = HK$3,600).
- If this school only rents 2 round-trip school buses for 90 students (i.e. 45 students per school bus), a maximum subsidy of HK$2,400 could be applied (HK$1,200 x 2 school buses = HK$2,400).
- If the actual rent of each school bus is lower than the upper limit, the exact amount will be reimbursed.
5.Application for school bus rental subsidy will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
6. When a large number of applications are received, causing the total amount of bus subsidies that can be approved to reach the upper limit, the school's application will be on the waiting list. If there are applications from other schools that are not eligible after the completion of InnoCarnival 2025 on 26 October 2025, the Organiser will arrange for the applicants to be replaced according to the order of the waiting list. Successful applicants will be notified by email in December at the earliest. (The order of the waiting list will be based on the time of completing the “Registration Form for Group Visit/School Bus Rental Subsidy ”.) Please pay attention in due course.
Application Procedure
- Sign up a Type B Account (Primary / Secondary / Special School). Login and complete the “Registration Form for Group Visit/School Bus Rental Subsidy ”.
-
All approved schools are required to submit the actual student attendance list at the Main Reception upon arrival. After visiting, the schools should submit the “School Bus Rental Subsidy Application Form” together with all relevant documents to the address specified on the form on or before 28 November 2025.
(If the actual number of students attended is less than 30, the application will not be processed.) -
Upon verification of the application and relevant documents, the Organiser will transfer the subsidy to the school’s bank account directly (Any account whose name does not match with the name of the school is NOT accepted).
School may also choose to collect the cheque by mailing to the school’s postal address. (If the cheque is lost during the postal delivery, HKFYG will not arrange to reissue the cheque.)
