School Bus Rental Subsidy Application Guidelines (Applicable for Primary, Secondary and Special Schools only)

1.Number of Students
The amount of subsidy will be granted on the basis of the number of rented coach. To apply for the subsidy, the minimum number of students has to be 30 per coach (i.e. excluding teachers, parents, volunteers, etc.).

2.Amount of Subsidy Per Coach
Based on the distance between Science Park and the school districts, there are two tiers of upper limit for subsidy:

table
School Districts Maximum Amount of Subsidy for Single Trip (30 Students or above per Coach) Maximum Amount of Subsidy for Round Trip (30 Students or above per Coach)
North District, Shatin, Kowloon Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong, Yau Tsim Mong, Cheung Sha Wan and Lai Chi Kok HK$450 HK$900
Yuen Long, Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai, Tsuen Wan, Kwai Tsing, Sai Kung, Tseung Kwan O and Hong Kong Island HK$600 HK$1,200

3.Approval Principle

The total reimbursement amount would be capped at the designated amount offered to school (based on location listed above) or the actual expense incurred, whichever is lower.

4.Examples

  • A school in Tsuen Wan rents 3 round trip coaches for 90 students to visit InnoCarnival 2024 at Hong Kong Science Park (30 students per coach, excluding teachers, parents, volunteers etc.) could apply for transportation subsidy up to HK$3,600 (HK$1,200 x 3 coaches = HK$3,600).
  • If this school only rents 2 round trip coaches for 90 students (i.e. 45 students per coach), HK$2,400 subsidy could be applied at maximum (HK$1,200 x 2 coaches = HK$2,400).
  • If the actual rent of each coach is lower than the upper limit, the actual amount will be reimbursed.

5.Application for school transportation subsidy will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

6. When a large number of applications are received, causing the total amount of bus subsidies that can be approved to reach the upper limit, the school's application will be moved to the waiting list. After the conclusion of InnoCarnival on November 3, if the applications of other schools are canceled due to insufficient number of final visiting students, the organiser will arrange applicants to fill in according to the order of the waiting list. The schools that have successfully waited will receive an email notification in December the earliest (the order of the waiting list will be based on the time of application submission). Please pay attention in due course.

Application Procedure

  1. Sign up a Type B Account (Primary / Secondary / Special School). Login and select "School Bus Rental Subsidy".
  2. For all approved applications, the final student attendance list has to be provided to the InnoCarnival onsite main reception upon your arrival. The original copy of official receipt of coach rental should be submitted together with the “Receipt Submission Form” to the address listed on the form on or before 29 November 2024.
(If the actual number of students attended is less than 30, the application will not be processed.)
  3. Upon validation of the application and official receipts, the reimbursement will be transferred to the school’s bank account directly (Different bank account name and school name in the same transport subsidy application is NOT accepted). School could opt for receiving the reimbursement by bank cheque which would be mailed to the school’s postal address. (*If the cheque is lost during the postal delivery, the HKFYG would not arrange.)
